Kasım Paşa Mosque and Complex

The Kasım Paşa Complex was built in Bozüyük by Kasım Paşa in the first half of the 16th century. The group of buildings formed a staging post on the historic road running east from İstanbul, and the town of Bozüyük grew up around it.

The inscription on the mosque gives the date of construction as 1528-29 (AH 935). Plain from the outside, the mosque holds a rich decorative scheme dominated by tilework and hand-painted ornament; the tiled window lunettes in the portico are especially striking.
